ANNIE SCHMIDT represents a unique cross section of today’s most creative and compelling filmmakers, actors, writers and producers. Annie most recently led the 2009/10 awards campaign for director Lee Daniels, for which he garnered monumental nominations as the first African American director to be nominated for a DGA Award, and the first African American to be nominated for Academy Awards in both the directing and best picture categories. Daniels' powerful film, PRECIOUS: BASED ON THE NOVEL PUSH BY SAPPHIRE swept the 2010 Independent Spirit Awards with wins in each category for which it was nominated, including best director and best film. Annie’s clients span across the film industry with talent both in front and behind the camera. She represents actors such as John Malkovich, Jeffrey Wright, Ben Foster, Logan Lerman, and Hugh Dancy; actors and filmmakers Bill Paxton and Tim Blake Nelson; filmmakers Jason Reitman, Nancy Oliver, and Adam Shankman; as well as renowned producer Charles Roven and his production company Atlas Entertainment. Her clients also include the writing team of Michael Brandt and Derek Haas, and the prolific composing team of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. "I enjoy the challenge of getting press for artists known for their work behind the camera," says Annie. "It's extremely gratifying knowing I'm not only raising my client's profile, but educating the public on the creative process that is at the heart of all great entertainment." A film studies graduate of UCSB, Annie worked as a Manager of Marketing and Publicity at Sidney Kimmel Entertainment. Annie got her start in the business as an assistant to producer Michael London on the Alexander Payne film, Sideways.
